The First-Ever SEC Victory

If he wasn't swinging a make-believe bat after a win or writing on the midfield paw after a beating the Tigers, Steve Taneyhill had his arms up in celebration.

On Oct. 17, 1992, the long-haired quarterback became the first freshman at South Carolina to start a game and lead the team to victory.

It was also the Gamecocks' first SEC win as a new member of the conference. And he did it against No. 15 Mississippi State.
