Paul Finebaum Does a Double Take - The First SEC victory in 1992

Even though it was their first year in the SEC, some people were saying it was time for the Gamecocks to go.

After USC fell to Alabama 48-7 on Oct. 3, 1992, sports columnist Paul Finebaum, who later joined ESPN, wrote that the SEC should dismiss 0-5 South Carolina as soon as possible.

Two weeks later, Finebaum got a slap in the face from the Gamecocks as USC upset No. 15 Mississippi State with a 21-6 win, led by Steve Taneyhill.

Here the South Carolina defense swarms around Mississippi State on Saturday, Oct. 17, 1992 in Columbia.
