In Nov. 28, 2009 during the Clemson game, future NFL cornerback Stephon Gilmore strolled over to the quarterback position, faked a handoff, and dropped a beautiful pass to future NFL wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
The Wildcat play was part of a game effort that led the Gamecocks to victory over the Tigers. Jeffery kept the USC stat team busy during his career, reeling in 3,000+ yards in the reception category.
Plenty of coaches, including the rude ones, wanted Jeffery's talents coming out of high school. During a recruiting conversation between then, Southern Cal head coach Lane Kiffin and Jeffery, Kiffin told the St. Matthews native that if he went to South Carolina he would “end up pumping gas.”
Jeffery played nine seasons in the NFL.
